Maybe I’m really fickle, or maybe I just prefer clearly flawed characters over those that have their shit together, but I was fully cheering her on whenever she took my likeable characters down a peg or two. I was also surprised to find that she was often right. But, from her perspective, it’s other characters (ones I’d grown attached to and gravitated towards for most of the series) she views as the annoying ones. Like I said, she was insufferable in previous books, and for most of this oneshe still tries to live up to herwell-earned reputation. Nesta Archeron is not a perfect protagonist. Maas did a really good job of putting Nesta in the forefront of this novel and bringing her character to life in a way that differed from how she was presented in previous books where Feyre was the main character. Reading the novel through her perspective was endlessly captivating. Although in preceding books Nesta was never a very nice person to be around and always seemed like her mission in life was to be as insufferable as possible, as a reader, I know I was Team Nesta right from the moment I picked up the book till the end. It was pretty hard not to sympathise with Nesta’s character.
